According to DIN 1946-6 – Ventilation of apartments – the ventilation must function independently of the user, that is, even when the user is absent. For buildings to be newly constructed or modernized with changes relevant to ventilation, for example after replacing the windows or roofing, a ventilation concept must be created for each usage unit. The ventilation concept checks whether the air volume flow through leaks in the building envelope (infiltration) is greater than the air change necessary for moisture protection. If this is not the case, ventilation measures are necessary.
